  1. Directions may be given in various ways.  The input and output units may
  2. differ, so you can easily translate from one system to another.
  3.  
  4. The options are:  <EXAMPLES> and are set as <PARAMTRS>.
  5.  
  6. Azimuth.  North is 0° or 360° and is measured in a full turn to the right.
  7.  
  8.          When entering directions as azimuth, you can also enter any call in
  9.          quadrants by just entering it. If the direction starts with NESW, then
  10.          I'm smart enuf to figger out that you mean it to be a quadrant.
  11.  
  12. Quadrants.  [North or South] [0° to 90°] [East or West], meaning face the
  13.          first direction, then turn the angle towards the second direction.
  14.          This made the arithmetic easier in the days before calculators.
  15.          Today it keeps the landowners stupid.

  17.          If you choose to input directions as Quadrants, then you may
  18.          designate the quadrant in either of two ways. The normal way (s34e) or
  19.          the special "point & grunt" way. First hit the key in the corner of
  20.          the numeric keypad corresponding to the quadrant, then enter the
  21.          degrees. (s34e is entered as 334). I think that this is goofy, but my
  22.          competition makes a big deal of it, so I included it.

  24.          This means that if your are in quadrants, then you cannot enter an
  25.          azimuth. However, if you are in azimuth, then you can enter quadrants
  26.          as quadrants.  This makes the quadrants option pretty useless.

  28.          When entering quadrants, case and spaces are ignored. n45w = N 45 W
  29.  
  30. Gradians. 400 gradians per full circle, 100 per quadrant.
  31.          This makes trigonometric tables which usually end at 90° go all the
  32.          way to 100. This innovation prevents the usual question of, "What
  33.          happened to the last ten degrees of my Trigonometric Table?"
  34.  
  35. Mils.    6400 per full circle.  Your Government likes this one.  It keeps the
  36.          commies confused.
  37.  
  38. Radians. 2π per full circle.  Used by mathematicians & those with a part
  39.          number stamped on their brains.
  40.  
  41. Semis.   For reasons known only to the education burrocracy, schoolchildren are
  42.          taught to measure angles in a semicircle, with West as -90°.
  43.  
  44. Fractional parts of degrees may be given as decimals in the manner of any
  45. other real number, or as minutes and seconds. 1°=60'=3600"  1'=60"
  46.  
  47. Use the "/" as a separator when entering minutes and seconds.
  48.
